Spiritual Direction

  • What is Spiritual Direction?

Spiritual direction is a spiritual practice dating back to the early church when people sought out the desert mothers and fathers to ask them how to know God.

In its present-day form, a spiritual director trained in listening and discernment accompanies you in your spiritual journey and relationship with God. Spiritual direction is a space to notice where God is present and active in your life as well as where we explore God’s still, small voice in your reactions and responses to it. A spiritual director comes alongside you in nurturing the work of God in your life.

  • Why Spiritual Direction?

At times, it can feel hard to connect with God. Life can entail times of spiritual uncertainty—situations in which we are unsure in hearing or discerning God’s voice, confused about what God is doing in our circumstances, or desiring greater closeness and connection in our relationship with God. Spiritual direction is a safe space to explore your questions and concerns about your life with God.

God is always speaking to us and desiring to draw us into greater wholeness. Spiritual direction is a place to explore your relationship with God and spiritual journey and to notice where God is already present in the human pursuit of love, identity, and meaning.

  • What does spiritual direction provide?

Spiritual direction is a sacred space to be still and notice God’s invitations in your life and to attune yourself to God’s loving presence.

It provides a set aside time to discern the Spirit’s movement in the big and small things in life and to listen to and for God’s voice.

A spiritual director serves to come alongside you in your spiritual journey to help clarify and recognize God’s movement in your life and to be with you as you grow in awareness and capacity to discern God’s voice for yourself.

  • Who would benefit from spiritual direction?

Spiritual direction is for anyone who desires a closer and more intimate relationship with God.

This may include individuals who are trying to figure out where God is in their life - whether that’s from feeling out of balance or for those who are questioning faith or are feeling disconnected from God. It also includes those seeking God’s direction and discernment or seeking God’s invitations in the midst of transition.

My specialties and areas of interest:

I love to help explore the intersection of Asian-American identity and faith, the unique challenges of pastors and those working in ministry, and those who are looking for God but feel as though they don’t know how to find Him in the traditional frameworks of church culture and stories of their past. If you are searching for God but find yourself stuck while trying to use your previous frameworks of church, faith, and culture, and if those frameworks no longer lead you to the life with God you are searching for, I would love to help you ask a different set of questions and discover the story God is writing in you and through you in this season of your life.
